  THE FOX GLACIER
There are ways to explore the Glacier that will meet everybody’s abilities and budgets. You can walk up the glacier valley to the terminal of the glacier. You can take guided half day or full day walk on the glacier and explore the ice formations. The heli hike flies part way up the glacier and you are then guided to explore higher levels of ice and often even ice caves.

The beautiful Lake Matheson is another attraction of Fox Glacier. About 3 km from Ropatinis, it is an easy 1 and 1/2 hour walk around the lake. The famous reflections of Mt Cook and the Southern Alps are best photographed at sunrise or sunset, but it is a beautiful walk at any time.
